Some career paths are carefully planned, while others begin with an unexpected opportunity. For Senior Accountant Saori Braswell, moving across the world not only meant starting a new chapter in life, it also led her to discover a passion for accounting that has shaped her career at DZA.
Today, Saori provides audit services, prepares Medicare cost reports, and offers Medicaid DSH reimbursement consulting for hospitals across multiple states. While every project is different, one thing remains constant: her commitment to helping clients navigate complex challenges with confidence.

A New Country, A New Career
Before accounting, Saori worked in the travel industry in Japan. After moving to the United States, she embraced the opportunity to begin an entirely new profession. Inspired by her parents’ careers in banking and her love of math, she returned to school to earn both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting before joining DZA as an intern.
One aspect of accounting immediately resonated with her.
“I also liked that numbers are universal. I was learning a new language and adapting to a new culture, and numbers are the same everywhere.”
Her willingness to embrace change has become one of the defining characteristics of her career. Although changing industries and countries was a significant transition, she says she’s never looked back.
Finding Solutions That Matter
Healthcare accounting is constantly evolving, which means no two client engagements are exactly alike. That’s one of the reasons Saori enjoys her work so much.
Whether she’s preparing Medicare cost reports or consulting on Medicaid DSH reimbursement, she appreciates the opportunity to analyze complex situations and help hospitals navigate changing regulations.
“Every client has different situations and challenges, so there is always something new to learn. I also like building relationships with clients and knowing that my work helps them make informed decisions.”
To stay ahead in a changing industry, Saori is committed to continuous learning through professional education, internal training, and collaboration with her colleagues. That mindset allows her to bring practical, informed solutions to every client engagement.
Growing at DZA
One of the most meaningful parts of Saori’s journey has been growing alongside the DZA team. What began as an internship has developed into a successful career built on mentorship, collaboration, and continuous development.

Life Beyond the Office
Outside of work, Saori enjoys exploring the world. Having previously worked in the travel industry, her love of travel has remained a constant throughout her life. She enjoys experiencing different cultures, meeting new people, and trying local cuisine.
Closer to home, you’ll often find her hiking or kayaking throughout the Pacific Northwest, taking advantage of the region’s natural beauty. At home, she and her husband share life with two cats who, she says, always keep things entertaining.
Looking Ahead
If there’s one lesson Saori hopes others take from her journey, it’s that meaningful growth often begins outside your comfort zone.
“I think it’s never too late to take on a new challenge or pursue a new opportunity. Growth happens when we are willing to step outside of our comfort zone and embrace new experiences.”
